Let’s face it!  We were all created to be creative, and when given the right tools we can make some pretty awesome stuff.  So, why not take all that creative energy and potential and turn it into something that can be sold for a little profit.  In order to help you get started, here’s a few questions to ask yourself:

  • What can I make with my own hands that others would enjoy?

  • What am I good at (or getting good at) creating?

  • What do I really enjoy making/producing?

  • Do I have someone in my life that can teach me a new skill that could be used to earn some money?

  • Is there a product I can make with my own hands to solve a common problem?

  • What will it cost to produce/create my item?

One of the biggest challenges in selling a product is creating a brand - figuring out who you are and how customers will remember you.  And then, once you do that, it’s important to share, share, share about what you’re selling, where you’re selling, and how people can buy your awesome product.  Here’s a few marketing questions to consider:

  • What will you name your business?

  • Who will your customers be?  Other kids?  Adults?  Women?  Men?

  • What are your goals for selling?

  • How will you tell potential customers about your product?

  • How much will you charge for your product?

Getting some selling experience under your belt is a big deal.  There’s a lot you can learn from selling your product and getting to know your customers’ needs/wishes better.  Who knows, you might even launch your product and grow it into a business!  Here's a few questions to think about when it comes to what's next:

  • Do I have enough product to sell to the expected number of customers?

  • How much will I need to charge my customers in order to make a profit?

  • What will I do with the money made?  Will I buy more supplies to grow my “business”? Save for college? Donate to a charity?
